Position Title: Flooring Installer
Department: Field Operations / Construction
Reports To: Project Manager / Field Supervisor

Location: Jobsite-based
Position Summary
The Flooring Installer is responsible for preparing, installing, repairing, and finishing various types of flooring materials in commercial and residential construction projects. This role requires hands-on installation experience, attention to detail, the ability to follow project specifications, and a commitment to quality, safety, and jobsite professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Install flooring materials including vinyl plank, VCT, LVT, carpet tile, sheet vinyl, rubber flooring, laminate, hardwood, tile, and related floor finishes.
- Prepare substrates by cleaning, leveling, patching, grinding, sanding, or applying primers and underlayments as needed.
- Read and follow plans, drawings, specifications, layout instructions, and manufacturer installation guidelines.
- Measure, cut, fit, and install flooring materials accurately and efficiently.
- Install transitions, base, stair treads, nosings, trims, adhesives, and related accessories.
- Inspect materials and surfaces before installation and report issues such as moisture, uneven substrates, damage, or missing materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and flooring equipment properly and safely.
- Complete work according to project schedule, quality standards, and supervisor direction.
- Communicate with supervisors, project managers, other trades, and clients as needed.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and jobsite rules.
- Protect finished surfaces and surrounding areas from damage.
- Assist with loading, unloading, moving, and staging materials and equipment.
- Complete daily work reports, time records, photos, or other field documentation when required.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience installing flooring or working in construction.
- Ability to use common flooring tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of floor preparation and adhesive application methods.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Reliable transportation to jobsites.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Ability to lift, carry, kneel, bend, stand, and work on floors for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial flooring projects.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience with LVT, VCT, carpet tile, sheet vinyl, rubber flooring, ceramic tile, or resilient flooring systems.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with prevailing wage or public construction projects.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50–75 lbs.
- Ability to kneel, crouch, bend, push, pull, and stand for long periods.
- Ability to work in active construction environments.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, adhesives, and flooring equipment safely.
- Ability to work occasional overtime, weekends, or variable schedules depending on project needs.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily on construction jobsites, including commercial buildings, schools, offices, multifamily properties, residential homes, and public facilities. The role may involve exposure to dust, noise, adhesives, construction materials, and changing jobsite conditions.

Compensation is based on experience, skill level, project type, and employment classification.
